Buying an antique purse has become extremely popular, mainly because they are embraced by many popular people and celebrities across the world.  However apart from that, people are fascinated with them because of how sturdy they are after so many years and how intricate the designs are.

If you are looking for antique purses , you first need to make sure that what you are being sold is actually an antique so you do not end up getting ripped off.  What you should first look out for is whether or not the so-called anti-purse contains synthetic linings.  In almost all cases, antique purses are made with a leather lining that is actually stitched into the interior of the purse.  If somebody is selling you an antique purse that has synthetic lining, there is a very strong likelihood that it is not antique.

One thing you should always remember is that the quality of a real antique purse is nothing that you can match to anything that is made today by manufacturers.  The quality of the leather, the stitching, the hardware and several other features should allow a vintage piece to stand out as such.  With a Louis Vuitton antique piece for example, every single piece of hardware used in the design of the bag should be marked with an “LV” symbol.  Most of the pieces are solid brass as opposed to plated metal pieces which are used on knock off models.

Another thing that you should know about antique purses is that each one you see today was a unique or almost unique piece.  Most antique purses were custom made while others were made in only small quantities, therefore not many should be available on the market for sale.  This is another sign to look out for to determine if your antique is genuine or not.

And of course, the finer materials that were used for making a classic piece such as an antique beaded purse are more than likely not available for use today.  These materials were sturdy and of a high quality which stand out compared to modern-day fabrics.  If you do not get the impression that the fabric is a fine material that is hard to come by, then you are probably not getting an antique purse.

Look out for the tell tale signs to determine if you are actually getting an antique purse or if somebody is trying to rip you off and run away with your money.
