A creative new way to make a coin purse is with a simple pair of old jeans. This is a great way to save money and you will have a fashionable conversation piece to show your friends. Plus you will appreciate your handy work every time you use it! Best of all, even if you aren’t very good at sewing, this is really quite simple.

The first thing you will want to do is find an old pair of jeans that don’t have ripped pockets. If you want a really small coin purse, you can even use a pair of old kid’s jeans. This is of course entirely up to you. You will also need a thread and needle, a zipper and some fabric glue.

Now you will want to carefully remove both back pockets from the same pair of jeans. This way you have equally sized pieces of fabric. Now sew the zipper to the bottom backside of the first pocket. Then do the same for the other pocket, but be sure the zipper is lined up correctly. If it can’t open and close properly, re-align the zipper until it does.

Now it’s time to seal the bottom of your coin purse. Pull apart the two pockets so you can see the insides and glue the bottom pockets with the fabric glue. This will help you properly align the bottom of the purse before sewing it shut. Now you will want to wait for the glue to dry.

Once the glue dries, you simply sew up the sides and bottom of the purse with the thread and needle. Be sure to use a similar color thread to the jean’s fabric.

Now it’s time to decorate your coin purse with beads and glitter if you wish. Or you can leave it how it is. Whatever suits your style!

You will find dozens of sites online that provide beautiful patterns for your purse. From there it is as simple as deciding on the pattern you like the most. You will want to use inexpensive beads on the majority of the purse and the more expensive ones as your accents.
